Our purpose is to EXALT the Savior through meaningful worship, to EVANGELIZE through ministry and missions, to EDUCATE toward Christian maturity, to EQUIP the saints for service and to ENCOURAGE one another through Christian love.

How to become a Part of our First Baptist Family
First Baptist Porter is a body of believers united in our desire to follow Jesus Christ and committed to fulfilling the purposes set forth in our mission statement. If you desire to join with us and will be supportive of our beliefs, fellowship and mission of our church, we warmly invite you to become a member. At the end of every service our pastor will extend an invitation for you to come forward to receive Christ as Savior, to join the church, or to make other decisions. You will be greeted by a minister who will assist you in your decision.

BECOME A MEMBER

You become a member of the church by one of the following three ways:

  1. Transfer of Membership: If you are a member of a Baptist Church tell the counselor you are moving your membership. Our church clerk will write your former church for them to forward your record of membership to us.
  2. Profession of Faith and Baptism: Upon your public profession of faith in Christ and after your baptism by immersion, you are added to the membership of the church. During this altar call you will be introduced and a baptismal service will be scheduled for you.
  3. Statement of Faith: If you have been saved and baptized by immersion in a church of like faith and order and cannot get a record of membership from another Baptist Church, (i.e. records destroyed or you are currently a member of another denomination) we will accept you on your statement of faith that you have been saved and baptized by immersion. A minister will assist you in this decision.

The Southern Baptist Convention is made up of Southern Baptist Churches all over the nation who work together to spread the gospel to our entire world. Together we carry the missionary mandate to the 'ends of the earth".
